Cladding
Inwood pioneered the use of long length finger-jointed
Sweet Chestnut for cladding which has been used in numerous major
projects throughout the UK.
Inwood produce a range of cladding systems suitable for both contemporary
buildings and restoration projects where a sustainable low maintenance
building envelope is required.
British Sweet Chestnut, Oak, Western Red Cedar & Larch all have
natural durability and do not require additional preservative treatment
gradually weathering
to a natural silver grey patina.
We remove the knots and other defects to reduce tensions in the
timber and then finger-joint the graded timber to form cladding
boards typically in 6.1m lengths. This results in the boards remaining
remarkably stable in service.
Boards can be factory treated with wood protection
oils or fire resisting finishes as required.
The finger-joints have been subjected to strength
tests and accelerated weathering by the Building Research Establishment.
